    Lazy blogging ..

AssalamuAalaykum & Greeting to all of you !

I know it’s been a while, although I’m not sure if you can call a 5 month break a “while”.
Anyway, I didn’t stop blogging during that period, I have actually being an active blogger in my mother tongue (Arabic), and I had a kind of glimpse of success in that area.

But even so, I wasn’t satisfied with the way things are, I was really troubled by a rule I try to live by, which is to “Never start what you can’t finish”, although I always intend to break that rule, at the end, rules are only made to be broken :) as Douglas MacArthur once said.
They say you can’t be successful at everything, but you still can try, and what you gain if you fail is experience.
So I would like to gain some experience from this blog, not that I have an intention of failing :) , but if it goes right I would continue putting some words and ideas in this humble blog, and in the worst scenario, well, I ‘ll abandon it after a while and I will be satisfied with just the experience of trying new things.

    See you in another post

    Thoughts about technology progress..

Yesterday I got caught up in the rain, right after I sneaked out from a boring lecture (Good student huh), and I didn’t have a choice but to wait for the heavy rain to stop, so I went to my favorite section in the first floor of the library and took a book about nanotechnology, set down put my earphones on, and started reading about the nanotechnology impacts on the current manufacturing technology..

I came across a very interesting stuff, the author said that Intel have been using nanotechnology in manufacturing chips a long ago, and so it’s the largest “nano” company in the world, it was rather shocking for me, because every time I read about nanotechnology all I think about is how it can improve computer industry and I kept imagining a super small computer with extraordinary capabilities and incredible speed and performance!

Not only that but also she said that the scientists predict that the minimizing of the size of computer chips will eventually come to an end by the year 2010-2016 (since the book was written on 2007).

Now considering the fact that the scientists have already broken the Moore’s law and they are already actually using atoms to build tiny transistors, will only lead to a simple conclusion which is that Nanotechnology with all its wonders is just the beginning ..

The think that got me thinking is that diving into the small worlds is in a way similar to trying to discover the big universe with all its galaxies it’s all somehow infinite, and the more we find the more we realize that we are very far from reaching an end if there is one..

    Volunteering for TED ..

A couple of days ago I started translating some TED videos voluntarily.

First I started with my favorite TED talk ever: “Charles Fleischer insists: All things are Moleeds“. (The Arabic version) I loved it because it’s hilariously genius.

It was a tough one not just because it was my first experience but also because it was one of the really difficult talks to translate, but I tried my best and I did finally finish it in one piece :) ..

The thing about translating something is that you get to really understand every shred and detail of it. It’s in fact one of the most affective ways to learn new stuff by heart!

After that talk I started an even tougher one, which was not just full of made up words and complicated expressions but also has a lot of logical mistakes which made it even harder.

I’m starting to love this thing, and the last video I translated it while watching the “Wall street: Money never sleeps” movie. It was fun !

Maaan I’m feeling hyperactive these days :D

*Don’t forget to give me feedbacks and comments on the quality of my translations ;)

The first day of a new semester ..

    It’s a new semester again!

As much as I like getting back to campus and meeting all  my friends again, I also hate to have to go through another sequence of worrying waiting and being under pressure.

I know it’s all for a greater cause and that someday I’ll look back to my days in campus and wish to have all these memories back again, after all that’s what life is all about.

My advice to everyone, don’t let your worries and sadness ruin your present, because in the end everything will be good memories.

You ‘d better enjoy every second and make the most of your life, keep a very good relation with God, the people and of course yourself!

This semester I really feel happy and enthusiastic since it might be my last semester in Melaka before moving to a different campus to pursuit my degree in Nanotechnology and that’s another story, I was in the faculty this morning and asked about the procedure, The clerk said that I have to send a letter to the dean and wait for him to approve it..

And the problem is that I have a history with the dean, and in case you were wondering what did I do :) , it was just a big “prank” from his part, when i went to Umrah last semester he said:

“Ok just leave your application for leave and go, when you come back we ll settle everything”.

And when i came back he refused to sign it!

I really hope this won’t happen again with my application..

Oh yes, I almost forgot. There is another reason why I feel so enthusiastic, which is that I have night lectures three days: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 20 to 22, which is something good because I’m a kind of a nocturnal person 8-)

    Welcome!

AssalamuAalaykum & Greeting to all of you !

    Blogging

I started blogging in Arabic about five months ago, (مدونة خالد مربو), and I have to admit that it was a very interesting experience.

Even though it wasn’t entirely a personal Blog, I mean I don’t actually talk much about myself and what am doing, feeling or thinking all the time.

Most of it was for a greater cause, and I don’t regret that.

I would rather spend my time writing about nations, change, development, politics and science, than just talk about what I had for lunch or how am feeling today.. :)

"But isn't that what a personal blog is all about? :|  "

Well, it’s true, and that’s one of the main reasons behind this blog, to express myself, post links that I like, share my thoughts and ideas and open up for the whole world since English is a universal language.

I welcome all your comments, suggestions, or even criticisms.

Stay tuned for more interesting stuff ..
